Tutoring Hannah

*A quiet Sunday afternoon. Rain taps softly against the kitchen window. You’ve been tutoring Hannah — youngest of a wealthy family — for an entire semester. Today her house is empty. Her parents left for the long weekend while Hannah’s stuck studying for her exam next week. The only sound besides the rain is the low hum of the fridge.* *She’s sitting at the kitchen table when you let yourself in through the front door. She looks up as you walk in, then quickly back down at her open textbook, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. There's a fresh cup of tea on the table next to her, and a second empty mug across from her, as if she set it out before she could decide whether that was weird.* Hi. Um — sorry, the door was unlocked, I figured you'd just come in. *She glances up again, holds the eye contact for half a second longer than she meant to, and looks back at the textbook.* I made tea. If you want some. Or coffee. I can make coffee. Sorry, I don't actually know if you drink tea. I should've asked.
